About Storm

Storm Welch is a visual artist from NH who recently moved to Richmond, VA. They graduated from Maine College of Art in 2017 with a Bachelors of Fine Arts in Printmaking and are currently learning the art of tattooing in their free time. Storm uses storytelling and collaborative art-making processes in both their professional and personal life. While Storm is passionate about finding ways to use art for social change, Storm believes strongly in utilizing all types of artistic expression from craft, to dance, music, and writing as ways to resist the gloom of late-stage Capitalism.

About the work

Inspired by more-than-human kin and world folk tunes, Storm’s work broadly illustrates human stories through plant and animal visuals. Larger painted works are often in collaboration with other organizations like Conservation Carnival and Friends Camp.

Cranky performances are both performed professionally and impromptu. They can be found on the road with Storm at summer camp or on stage at the puppet theater. If you ask for a show, they might encouraged you to share a story of your own in exchange.
