Storm Welch is a visual artist and activist from the Monadnock region of New Hampshire. They graduated from Maine College of Art in 2017 with a Bachelors of Fine Arts in Printmaking and are currently working on block printing a new Crankie performance for the year 2025. Storm uses storytelling and collaborative art-making processes in both their professional and personal life. While Storm is passionate about finding ways to use art for social change, they also believe strongly in utilizing all types of artistic expression from craft, to dance, music, and writing as ways to resist the gloom of late-stage Capitalism.

Inspired by more-than-human kin and world folk tunes, Storm’s work broadly illustrates human stories through plant and animal visuals. Larger painted works are often in collaboration with other organizations.
Crankie performances are both performed professionally and impromptu. To keep up to date on their most recent shows, find them on instagram at stormthebirdy.
